23rd July 2012

On this Day, our lives were blessed with a perfect little baby girl.

We named her ISLA TIARE PREBBLE. She was 6 days past her due date, but I have forgiven her for that!! I love her too much to hold it against her :) She weighed 3.85kg and was 52cm long. She caused a bit of trouble making her way into the world (her head got a bit stuck as she was trying to come out face first!). Again, I love her too much to hold that against her :) Thank goodness for morphine, epidurals and syntocin! Dan was there for the birth (of course), but this time I got to share the experience with a good friend Deb. I was glad she was with us as there were moments that Dan couldn't be there for, like having the epidural put in, and she stayed with me and helped me through some painful contractions. I was also a little emotional at this time as the labour was becoming very drawn out and I was a bit disappointed that I resorted to having an epidural as I had some expectation that this labour was going to be no worse than Oli's where I had no pain relief whatsoever. Anyway, looking back though I feel I made the right decision and saw how easily I might have needed a cesarean section if things had kept going the way they were. It was also nice to share this experience with Debs as she had not yet experienced a 'vaginal' birth - and now I don't know if she will want to again!!

We were all sooooo excited that Isla was finally here..... not as much as her big brother Zeek though - I will always remember his face when he came into the hospital room and saw her for the first time....

5 weeks later the novelty still hasn't worn off!!!

Thank you for joining us Isla. We've decided we'll keep you! Our family now feels complete :)
